- Phone
Score: -2 -4 -1 +2 = -5 - Pros:
Most people have one.
It could be used in any shop.
Shops wouldn´t be able to influence it.
Shops wouldn´t have to do anything.
Since it would be online, it would be easy and fast to update it. - Cons:
Installing software.
Making software work on a multitude of mobile phone models.
Either holding your phone in your hand all the time or picking it up all the time would be a hassle.
(Since it should be an online service, users would need to stay connected.)
Depends on connection speed
Image quality, might need to take multiple photos - Implementations:
Should be online due to storage reasons.
Based on an online server; possibly connecting to it with a computer as well. - Quick Shopper:
Score: +5 +4 -1 +11 = 19 - Pros:
Uses an existing device, which many people are accustomed to and which will spread regardless of us.
Since we´re targeting organized chains the shops would have a good database already.
From the supermarkets´ POV: won´t show items in other shops.
Fast response time
Made for being used when shopping. Easily picked up and put down, fixture on the trolley for it. - Cons:
Since we´re targeting organized chains we wouldn´t get every store.
Software has to be rewritten and new software has to be written.
The user has less control over the data source, the store controls the data.
From the Users POV: Won't show other stores.
New functions, user might not like change or wont find it. - Implementations:
Adding a "compare" button.
Do it without adding any buttons, either by modifying its behaviour or by removing the latest scanned item.
Could give the user the comparing output if the user scans an item for a little longer.
You have to be a member to get a scanner. - Labels on the shelves:
Score: +3 +6 +15 +15 = 39 - Pros:
It would not require any technology for the user (or the store).
Would not require any user effort.
Green on the shelves stands out and makes it intuitive. - Cons:
Would have to replaced/put up manually.
Cannot be updated fast on a national basis.
Might be easy for stores to cheat with.
Not much information - Implementations:
Actual physical labels, similar to price tags.
Labels might have the name of the product on them, to minimize confusion and cheating.
Labels could be stamped on the physical product.
